'The early bird gets the worm' so we woke up early in the Sunday morning to grabbed the food. We arrived here at 9:30pm, the restaurant was insanely crowded. We registered at the counter and we managed to be seated when a table becomes available (within 15 minutes). The design of the restaurant was based on 1930s style, if you like old-fashioned and a little bit of nostalgia, this is the restaurant to go.
The signboard is old and faded. |
The exterior of the restaurant |
Ceiling |
Hailam tea (RM 2) |
Steam Bread (RM 2.40) Butter, kaya and toast are served separately. You can add the kaya or butter according to your taste preference. ( Extra kaya or butter will be charged RM0.60) |
Toast ( RM 2.40) A typical breakfast in kopitiam always have kaya toast, the taste of the kaya is good and aromatic. |
French Toast (RM 3.50) The french toast is served with kaya instead of honey. |
Roti Babi (RM 8) |
A deep fried loaf filled with minced pork and shredded onions. I am totally not a fan of onion, so it was really disappointing. |
Pork Chop (RM 10) The pork chop is tender and well marinated. |
Hailam Mee (RM 6) Just like fried hokkien mee without adding dark soy sauce, nothing special |
Chicken Chop (RM 8.50) The chicken turned out to be quite flavorful. |
To make the chops more flavourful you could add a few drops of Worcestershire sauce (kicap). |
The restaurant also features home made marble cakes and kaya rolls.
Cake boxes |
Marble cake (RM 15 for whole cake and RM1.10 piece) |
Kaya roll (RM 9 for whole roll and RM0.90 per piece) |
